The Sweet Spot

“The place between your comfort zone and your dream is where life takes place.” ~ Helen Keller

Life can sometimes become so hectic even crazy that we can begin to feel we’re not really living, just existing like shadows of our former selves. When this happens we need to start living between the spaces of our life.

There is a space between the situation that is happening, or one we fear is going to happen, and how we are reacting to it. That space between the two is the stillness and the balance where we should be living. It’s the place to be when life gets out of control and we start stressing.

“When you let go, you create space for better things to enter into your life.” ~ Steve Maraboli

When we’re not trying to live in that chaotic zone of our life, we are better able to move forward and have the life we really want. We become more creative, joyful, and feel gratitude for life.

When feeling stressed try closing your eyes. Now take a deep breath through your nose and exhale softly through your mouth. Visualize the problem. See your negative reaction to the problem. Imagine a large space between the two. See yourself going into that space and feel the calm and balance washing over you. This is your sweet spot where your life is meant to be lived.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response, lies our growth and our freedom.”

~ Viktor Frankl, Auschwitz survivor

Find that power and start living a more balanced and happy life.

  1. It has been an interesting dance to find that sweet spot for many over here Michele. Those poor people down on the south coast going through interesting times. First a many year drought, bush fires over huge areas and now followed by floods. I’m getting a bit worried it might be end times 😀
    Anyone seen a plague anywhere? 😂 🤣
But, if there is anywhere to see a sweet spot, it is in the eyes of those that have been through it all. They do indeed appreciate the love and hope in friends and family that has now so much more meaning than it did before ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

  4. Hi. When I read the Helen Keller quote, I was surprised that she used the term “comfort zone.” I suppose that I had thought that the term came into use within the last 25 or so years, but she has been gone for over 50 years. I wonder when the phrase originated.

  5. Inspiring and profound post, Michele. We have to learn how to balance your life of negatives and positives and breathing is the best technique that makes you relax from these situations.

This is a wonderful idea, Michele. I have long been fascinated by the interstices of life where the observer self can take a break and watch things unfold without drama. I am going to practice your little meditation today and see how it helps me. Thank you. xo

  7. Thank you Pam. I do this meditation almost everyday and especially when I’m feeling stressed out. It helps to do it also at night while trying to go off to sleep. Sure hope it works for you too. xo

  11. When we have a lot going on it’s very hard to figure out the what and how of letting go. That’s why we have to make the time, even if it’s 5 minutes each day to get into that space and simply breathe. We owe it to ourselves Elizabeth.
