Life can get so hectic sometimes, especially if you are working and raising kids. And, if you have one of those jobs where you are giving to others, it’s a double whammy. Self-care isn’t something we give much thought to. Probably because we are taught it’s selfish to think of ourselves. And even if we do think of it from time to time, it’s usually put on the back burner.
You know what happens if self-care remains on the back burner too long—you burn out, and when that happens you’re no good to yourself or anyone else. Here’s an idea for self-care. Make a list of all the things that bring you JOY. They don’t have to cost an arm and a leg, and most will cost nothing at all. Each week pick one of the items on the list and treat yourself. It could be a long walk somewhere beautiful, a soak in a bubble bath, or a cup of tea and a good book. Maybe buy yourself something once in awhile. You get the idea.
The world is a loud place to be, and we can lose ourselves in that loudness and become so stressed out. Be good to yourself and soon you’ll see how much calmer and happier you feel.
Your soul deserves to be loved. Go ahead and give it some flowers.
Beautiful truth 🧡

Beautifully said Michele, we do get so engaged in life and we seem to slip through the cracks. But missing the most important person of all. And as you have said, we can’t give from a hospital bed, drained, damaged and bent from that lack of giving us that love we so lavishly give others. We to deserve that love and it may be the hardest thing to do, but worth every single step.
A lovely post dear lady, may your love, as it has here, share from that fountain cared for 😀❤️🙏🏽

We give so much to our loved ones and others, and never realize how drained we are becoming. I don’t think we realize that soon we’ll have nothing left to give. Thank you for your insightful comments, Mark.

Very true. Taking care of others can be extremely demanding, depending on the circumstances. Burnout then is inevitable, unless we do some of the things that you recommend. Good essay!

Thank you, Neil. Taking care of others can really drain a person, and if we’re not kind to ourselves it will soon show up in a negative way.

I understand, Saima. The world can be a cruel place sometimes. It’s so hard to write and be creative when we’re caught up in it. I know it’s hard for me too. I hope you can get into a good place and start writing once again. The world needs your beautiful posts. Take care my friend.

Great advice. My sister’s joke is what do you get when you work your fingers to the bone? Bony fingers.
