Clear the Cache of Your Mind

“Know that the only important house to clean is your mind.”
~ Byron Katie

Just like our computers we need to occasionally clear our cache memory of hidden thoughts that can make us unhappy. We all store our thoughts in this cache and it makes it convenient for our egos to grab them fast putting us in worry unhappy mode. Sometimes we’re going about our day just fine when all of a sudden we see or hear something that makes those thoughts pop out seemingly out of nowhere. And sometimes thought gremlins visit us at night when we are supposed to be sleeping. If this happens too often then it’s a sign we need to clear our mind’s cache.

There are many ways to clear your mind. Try expressing your thoughts by writing or drawing. Talk with a trusted friend. Some people love to run, or swim. I like yoga and mindful meditation, and of course, writing. The key is to find what works for you. And the key is to become aware of your feelings before those feelings become aware of you. Letting your cache get clogged up will make you miserable.

The world we live in is an upside down place with many challenges, and that makes it super important that we take good care of ourselves. You, my beautiful humans, are unique. There is no one on earth like you, and when you’re gone no one will ever be able to replace you. Please take good care of your wonderful precious mind and live your life free and happy even if sometimes like me, you are slipping and sliding along your journey.

“The mind is like water. When it’s turbulent, it’s difficult to see. When it’s calm, everything becomes clear.” ~ Prasad Mahes

Self-Care

“Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.” ~ Eleanor Brown

How many of you actually take care of yourselves? Hello there… anybody? Are you constantly running around and bouncing here and there like a ping-pong ball? I know that I once was, but not anymore—at least for the most part. I used to be so crazy busy and stressed out that you could have attached my head to jumper cables and received quite a charge!

All this running around taking care of people and making deadlines etc. didn’t have to be so crazy if I would have believed in the word, “No,” and practiced better self-care. Yoga, meditation, taking a walk, swimming, etc. Whatever calms you down and brings peace to you will work. But not drinking too much wine and stress eating. Yes, I confess, that is how I used to handle stress.

I know it’s hard to think of yourself when you have so much responsibility, but if you don’t take care of yourself then who will? And what’s going to happen to everyone and everything that’s depending on you if you get sick? A stressful life can make you very sick. Self-care isn’t something that’s selfish, or trendy. Self-care is something that is necessary for a balanced life.

When you are living through a nerve-racking time in your life, then that is just when you need to take a step back and think about what’s right for you. You need to be mindful of the choices you’re making and how they are affecting your overall health now and into the future.

It helps if you get yourself in the habit of self-care on a daily basis before you find yourself in a stressful situation. This way, you will know how to handle the horrible way you are feeling and de-stress before you get sick.

Remember, cheating yourself is going to cheat those that love you. Don’t beat yourself up all the time. Take a break and enjoy this life of yours.

Spoil Yourself

Spoiling yourself is really about self-care. You lead a busy life where you constantly do for others. Some of you are working more than one job, raising kids, and some even caring for special needs children, aging parents, or ill mates. Life can get hard and very demanding as responsibilities build. You can lose yourself in these situations and your stress level can explode. What can you do to keep sane? Spoil yourself.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with putting yourself first once in a while. Make a habit of once a month or even once a week doing something fun just for you. Go out to eat with friends and laugh over wine. Watch a game and yell your lungs out. Go out into nature and have some quiet time where no one is asking you to do anything for them. Even buy yourself a gift that’s just for you. Whatever brings joy back into your life go and do it before you turn into a zombie.

You are not here to be a slave. You are here to learn, do some good, and have a great time. But when doing that good gets out of balance and you start to lose yourself, then my friends, you have hit the danger zone. This is the region where all hell breaks loose. You are not only in danger of becoming a horrible caregiver, but also of destroying the very life you should be enjoying.

Don’t give it all away; keep some of the good stuff just for you. Your time on earth is limited so learn to take some of that time for YOURSELF! In doing this you will find that you are a better caregiver, and also a more loving and giving person who feels good about life in general.

So come on, kick off your shoes, be crazy and run wild in the nude! Really feel free, and feel your life.

Hey, when was the last time you actually spoiled yourself?
