Live for Today

Live for today and tomorrow will take care of itself. That sounds like good advice as long as you are not foolish and reckless, but mindful instead. Living each day with the purpose of actually showing up and not thinking about tomorrow or trying to replay the mistakes of yesterday is a goal we should all strive for. We don’t have to do great things each day, but we should try to enjoy each day as it comes along.

It’s true not all our todays are pleasant ones. Sometimes they are actually horrible and stressful, but that doesn’t mean that we should discount them. Every day we get is a day that belongs to only us and a day that we are here on planet Earth. Even if it isn’t the best of days we should embrace it and show up the best we can. When our horrible today slips into the past of yesterday we need to let it go and never look back. We then need to welcome our new present today and maybe it will just be a much better day.

In letting the previous day leave take a moment and see if there was a lesson to be learned, or wisdom to take in. In doing this no day goes away without preparing us for all the future days to come. Also, once you do this with the exiting day there will never be a need to hang onto the past. You will be able to just let it go and die off. And die it should because as you already know, if you don’t let the past go there is no way that you can truly live for today.

“Yesterday is ashes.

Tomorrow is green wood.

Only today does the fire burn brightly.”

Always Stay Present

Veering away from the present–the actual NOW of your life can confuse you and bring much sorrow.

“To help you be more present in your life today, stop what you are doing once an hour and ask yourself ‘Where are my feet?’ ”

~ Robert Holden

It’s good to check once in a while and make sure you are not drifting away, but staying where you need to be.

“Most people treat the present moment as if it were an obstacle that they need to overcome. Since the present moment is life itself, it is an insane way to live.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

It’s so true, sometimes the present moment is not a pleasant place to be, but then again, it’s the only place you can be. Your past is gone and your future hasn’t arrived yet, so baby, you’re stuck with NOW.

“Wisdom is the power of maximizing the enjoyment of the present moment.” ~ Robert Holden

It’s wonderful when we finally realize that we are alive! Let’s embrace it all!

“Sometimes in life we become so focused on the finish line that we fail to enjoy the journey.” ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Don’t ever put off living until you complete this or that because the day you penciled in to live may never come. Enjoy the ride–bumps and all as you travel along this thing called YOUR LIFE.

Push On

Don’t hold yourself back from the who you want to be; push on and see. So much goes on in your life holding you back. Self-doubts, people criticizing, failures, and lack of documentation that says, “I can actually do this!” These are the things that stop you, but don’t let them; push on.

You are a marvelous creature capable of doing so much, but for some reason, you’ve been listening to the wrong tune and believe the lyrics to be true. My dear fellow human, I must inform you that you are the result of devious programming! But don’t despair, all is not lost because all programming can simply be reprogrammed. All that is needed is a little rewiring and you will then become the who you want to be, and the you you’re supposed to be.

The first step is to learn to live by these wise words from Doctor Wayne Dyer: “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” This wonderful piece of wisdom continues to help me.

The second step is to “Believe” in yourself and know that all of us are here for a purpose. I tell my grandchildren that their job is to find out what that purpose is, and then do it.

The third step is “Gratitude.” Always feel it, and always say it.

The fourth step is “Love.” Learn to love every being including yourself.

The fifth step is “Passion.” Get excited about living to the point of giggles.

The sixth step and the last is “Spirit.” Don’t let yourself live by your ego; live only by your beautiful Spirit and you will be fine.

Use these six rewiring steps and you will be able to push on to a wonderful life where you can feel good about the who you are and certain of the road you are traveling on. Don’t waste your time on self-pity and never feel you don’t deserve a magnificent life, because if you don’t, then who does?

I will leave you with these words…

“May you fall asleep in a dream and awake with a purpose.”
