No Strings Attached

Love without strings. Now that’s a concept, and the way it’s supposed to be—right? It wasn’t all that long ago that I wrote about this very subject in “Unconditional Love and Acceptance.” But because we are facing rough times, and there seems to be so much anger flying around, it might do us all good to think about this again.

Loving each other, the planet we all share, and all of its beings without asking for something to be given in return. That’s pure acceptance and what love is all about.

“Give because you care, not because you want love, approval or a thank you in return. True acts of sharing are done without an agenda or strings attached.”

~ 10 Spiritual Principles of Kabbalah

Wouldn’t we all be much happier if we could take a breath, a step back, and live our lives with open arms of love, and not be so concerned about what’s in it for us? Not have so many rules and conditions for loving, but instead, practice tolerance and compassion for the existence of life itself.

“It is possible to live twenty-four hours a day in a state of love. Every movement, every glance, every thought and every word can be infused with love.”

~ Thich Nhat Hanh

What a great world it would be if only we could live our lives in love with no strings attached.

“A real relationship has fights. Has trust. Has faith. Has tears. Has hurt. Has sweet smiles. Has genuine laughter. Has weird, stupid, unnecessary arguments.”

Unconditional Love and Acceptance

Do you accept the people in your life for who and what they are, or do you have conditions that have to be met first? Can you love someone freely and allow them to love you back without them having to meet some stipulation that’s so very important to you? I hope so, because this is what unconditional love and acceptance is all about.

We’ve all met people, and maybe even been these people, or have relatives who are these people, that will accept friendship or love for a price. The price is doing business their way. Thinking the way they want you to think, be who they want you to be, and let them use you in some way that benefits them. If you don’t go along with the program, it’s Curtains for you!

“Unconditional love really exists in each of us. It is part of our deep inner being. It is not so much an active emotion as a state of being. It’s not, ‘I love you for this or that reason’ not, ‘I love you if you love me.’ It’s love for no reason, love without an object.” ~ Ram Dass

I like the part, “love without an object.” That’s the way we should be toward each other. We should free the people in our life and also free ourselves to just be able to accept and love without conditions. Just be free to be the parent, grandparent, child, friend, etc. And be free to experience the purity of unconditional love and acceptance.

“Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, ‘you owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky.” ~ Hafiz

Live your life free to be you, and allow the same for all the people who share your world.
