Just Go With It

“Accept this moment as it is.”  ~ Eckhart Tolle

I agree, it’s hard to accept some moments when they are downright horrible, but fighting against those times gets you nowhere. I think it’s better to just go with it. “This too will pass,” is a saying that’s been around for a long time and one my grandmother used to say. It’s a good saying and one maybe we should keep in mind when life gets tough.

In accepting the moment as it is you are surrendering–not giving up, there is a difference. Surrendering is letting go of having to control every little thing in your life. You are learning to flow through your life so you can enjoy all of it fully.

Every day I am reminded how precious life is and how short it can be. So I take the good with the bad–the cold rainy days with the glorious sunny warm days and treat them equally. After all, they are both part of my life and I own them.

Bad things come, but they also go, and then good things take their place. Don’t use up all your energy fighting those bad moments. Just go with it and the good moments will come.

This is your life so be completely present.

It’s Never Easy, But…

“No one said it would be easy.
And maybe that’s the problem!
Life is a lot easier when you stop
trying to make it so hard.”

“Just for today, be willing to let life
be easier than normal. Allow it to be so easy
that it surprises you and delights you.”

~ Robert Holden

“The greatest difficulty is the mental resistance to things that arise, and the underlying assumption that they should not.”

~ Eckhart Tolle

We have all had one of those days, weeks, etc. where we say “Really?” how can things get so crazy and out of hand? It just happens. But I have found that if I just relax and breathe for a moment, and maybe even meditate for a few minutes, things in my life just don’t seem so bad. My final step is to surrender. I mean, some things you just don’t have any control over, so let it go, and flow.

Life is always going to have ups and downs, but you don’t have to feel like a yo-yo. Take a stand to keep it simple even when it’s not. Don’t let yourself feed into the drama that life is presenting to you. Your reaction is not going to change a thing, but you will feel a lot better and be happier if you don’t get all uptight and crazy.

It’s true that life is certainly more complicated than it was ten, twenty years ago, but that is more reason to learn how to go with it and not fight all the time. A change in our attitude and our expectations help to make life easier.

So don’t say, “Why me?”  Say, “Oh, hell, why not? I’m not going to let it bite me!” Stay the happiness course by not letting anything come between and steal it away. Stay present, keep it simple, and keep laughing.

Are You Feeling Your Life?

“Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.” ~ Bob Marley

Are you comfortable in your own skin and really living your life to the end, or are you just gliding through each day not really sure of anything? We all know life can be short, and we should live it to the max, but few of us do. There is always something getting in the way–money, family, jobs, obligations galore. There’s always something keeping you stuck in the mud, isn’t there? But you promise yourself, one day you will begin living.

There’s a life force running through you begging to be free, but if you’re constantly in a hurry, or too stressed out, you will miss it as it streams. If you’ve decided hell, I don’t want to feel the pain, and have numbed yourself with pills, booze, or other silly things, you’ll sleep right through your life as it zooms by like a train. So get up! Dance, or sing, and feel all the zings. life is meant to be felt–yes even the pain.

I know it’s hard and there are times you don’t even want to get out of bed. But I promise, there will be gentler days ahead. Tough times are here to grow you into the wonderful person you are meant to be. But pal, you will never grow ahead, if you don’t just surrender to it all and be free. Feel the bad and good, and never ever, be afraid to fail.

There’s such joy in the little things, and in each breath you take that keeps you alive. Slow down and feel it all delighting in the fact that you are here at all. Go outside and close your eyes letting your senses take you for a ride. Sit in the park and hear the birds and see all the living beings. Have you noticed how their life force just sets them free?

Life is here but it moves very fast, and doesn’t wait for anything. You can’t slow it down, or put it aside for when you have more time. You just need to jump in accepting what is and  enjoying your fate to the end.

Come on, feel your life ‘cause this one won’t last for long, and I don’t know if you’ll ever have another one.

Surrender

Surrender to the “is” of your life and stop battling with the ego that holds you a prisoner. Surrendering is not giving up and giving in, or not handling the challenges that come into your life. It has nothing to do with not caring or being an active participate in life. Instead, it’s going with the flow of your life which will give you the peace and happiness you are seeking.

“If you find your life situation unsatisfactory or even intolerable, it is only by surrendering first that you can break the unconscious resistance pattern that perpetuates that situation.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

When you hold on to your pain you can’t move forward. You are constantly living in the past and dragging your pain along with you into the present. Every day is filled with new life experiences–some good and some bad. If you keep holding on to the hurts of yesterday and merge them with the hurts of the present, then you end up stuck in an internal battle that you can never win.

When a problem comes into your life, either fix it or toss it. Worry and letting yourself become depressed will only open the door for your ego to lead you down the dark tunnel of misery. Surrender to the is of your life–the problem, and see if you can take a positive action to correct it. If you can’t, then let it go and stop fretting over it.

There is someone who is mean to you and you can’t understand why. Stop driving yourself crazy trying to figure out the why. If it’s that important to you, talk to them. If it can’t be fixed, then let it go and move on and never give it another thought.

You’re out of work and all the worrying in the world will not change that fact. Surrender to the is and do what you need to do to find employment. You might not find the job you think you want, but surrender anyway; the right job for you will appear if you just flow with your life.

Whatever problem you are dealing with today will come to an end, and you’ll find that you didn’t need to choose suffering to get there. All you ever needed to do was to accept the is, let go, and allow life to flow.
