“When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what the storm’s all about.”
~ Haruki Murakami
This pandemic has been our storm, and I wonder who I will be when it’s over.
Who will you be? You have learned to go without certain essentials, making do with what’s available. Some of you have paid a heavy price in losing loved ones, businesses and jobs.
Do you think about and cherish the people in your life so much more, and have become patient and less judgmental toward others? Aren’t you just so grateful for each and every breath you take and think about the importance of caring for yourself, instead of always being at war?
If going through darkness changes a person for the good then it can’t be all bad. We should all be looking at our life and life in general in an improved way. No fear should reside within us. We are pioneers in a brave new world, learning to do things differently, and hopefully better. Let’s not forget about this planet. How we care for our Earth and its beings will come back to us, and maybe already has not in a good way. This pandemic might be a big warning to get our act together.
So … Who will you be? For me, I just hope that I’m a better human.
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” ~ Rumi
When will humankind learn that in order to survive and thrive as a species we must accept one another and learn to get along? There is no other way if we want to live a balanced and fulfilling life; the life we are here to live. Our planet is delicate and so are we. As we destroy ourselves, we obliterate our natural environment.
Looking at history, I fear we have learned nothing from our past mistakes. We continue as a species to wage war on one another and our planet. We are greedy creatures caring more about our status than our ethics. Our behavior can’t go on forever without ending humanity and our planet.
There is always hope that a new generation of humans will one day see the light and start making the changes necessary for humanity and this beautiful planet to flourish. As hatred becomes a thing of the past, new generations of humans will see as they study history that yes, we Homo sapiens did finally learn from our wayward ways. Love has a way of doing that. I can almost feel the anticipation for that day to arrive.
“We are very, very small, but we are profoundly capable of very, very big things.”~ Stephen Hawking
It’s over now and it’s time to go. You put your best foot forward. You stood up tall for your beliefs and fought the battle strong and fierce. You did your best my friend, but now it’s time to go.
Life is your new gig now—I mean, getting back in and actually living one and not just cruising around. Times are a changing and it’s getting pretty rough out there, but maybe you can make a difference here and there just by caring.
That word, “Caring” isn’t used and shown much anymore. It just doesn’t show up always in the humans of this planet. But hey, don’t you think we can change all that if we get back to living life again? I sure want to think so.
You did your best, so let today go, and concentrate on the new day fast approaching. You know, maybe just maybe, we can all make the new day finally glow.
Place your hand on your chest and feel your heart beating. Keep your hand there a minute and feel the warmth from your heart circling all around you. Such a glow certainly is bliss.
The warmth from your heart is love, kindness and acceptance and is meant to be shared with everyone no matter the color of their skin, religious beliefs, or not, and station in life. We humans are one and none of us is better than the other, or more deserving.
But, it isn’t just humans who deserve the warmth from the heart. All beings, all living things should receive the love and protection that we humans can and should give. We are the guardians of this planet and this beautiful place is depending on us to do the right things and protect it for generations to come.
We must stop spreading hate and destruction; they are poisoning the planet and its beings.
Put your hand on your chest and feel your heart speaking to you: Hate will destroy us all. Love, kindness and acceptance are the solution.
