Dharma

It’s a new year and all that you were before is long gone. This is a chance for a new you, a new beginning, a clean canvas to paint on. So what will be your dharma? You have a dharma, we all do. Plainly put, it’s a reason for being here–the purpose of your life.

Dharma is a lot like passion–which I’ve written about before. But Dharma is why you’re here at all. It’s what you’re supposed to be doing. Passion is the fuel that will make your dharma come alive and will get you where you’re supposed to be. Find your passion and you will find your dharma.

How will you know if your passion is your dharma? You will just know because it will consume you making you truly feel alive. But also, Dharma has its roots in service to others and in caring for the planet and all living things. So if your passion is only self-serving then it’s not really your dharma, it’s ego driving you. To know if it’s your Spirit or your ego talking, check to see if what you’re hearing is positive or negative. Positive is always Spirit.

Let 2013 slip quietly away and embrace the new year with courage and promise. Remember, no matter how hard last year was for you, it cannot dictate how this new year will go. Only you call the shots, nobody else. If you put your intention on love, forgiveness, acceptance and all positive good things, then the universe will repay you in kind by sending all these things right back to you.

“Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.” ~ Rumi
