Hold on to Dreams

IMG_0370

“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.”

~ Louisa May Alcott

Our aspirations and dreams of what can be give us the energy and fight to get up in the morning. They are part of what drives us. Never give up on your dreams because they’re who you are and why you’re here.

Stay Strong.

I Hope You Dance

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep the hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance… I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances but they’re worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it’s worth makin’
Don’t let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance… I hope you dance

Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along.
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.

I hope you dance… I hope you dance

Words and music by, Mark D. Sanders and Tia Sillers

I hope whatever life throws your way that you will always choose to DANCE!

What Are You Willing to Sacrifice?

What are you really willing to sacrifice for your career? Are you willing to cheat and lie and crush those below as you climb up the ladder? Well, that may be going a bit far, but some have done just that. But would you sacrifice your marriage, or miss your children’s childhood? What about your health? Are you willing to give that away? And those dreams for something even better, remember those? Are you willing to put your whole life on hold for this thing called a career?

When it’s put this way most people would have no trouble saying, NO. But in reality most of us do sacrifice much too much for the career and even for the thing we call the job. Some of us seem to have no problem sacrificing ourselves for the cause. We live by the motto of “work hard and one day you will make it.” The truth is that there is no guarantee you will make it to the top of your career, or even have a career. Life just has a way of sidelining us. And even if we do make it, was it all worth it?

Time is very valuable, and when you think about it, goes by very fast. Time waits for no one. And once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. So think about what you’re willing to sacrifice for your career, or the job that works you to death. Is it worth it? Can you still make a living without losing time with those you love and losing yourself in the process?

What it all comes down to is “Balance.” When you find the balance in your life everything comes together and works for you instead of against you. You can have the career without sacrificing yourself if you find and keep that balance. When you stop sacrificing to achieve that’s when you live your authentic self. And when you think about it, isn’t that what you’re really looking and working for?

Go out and live your best life!

“We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.”

~ Gary Zukav

The Runaway Life

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”  ~ Dr.Seuss

Do you sometimes feel that your life has gotten away from you? All the plans you had when you were young did they turn out the way you had envisioned? Most of the time our lives don’t turn out the way we thought they would, but that doesn’t mean they’re not the way they are supposed to be.

As you travel along on your journey, sometimes you make a turn along the way that puts you on a path that leads to a completely different life than the one you thought you were going to have. As long as you are having a good life where you are happy and fulfilled, then the turn you took so long ago was the right choice, and was really the life you are supposed to have. But what if that turn wasn’t? Then it’s time to make some changes.

You are in charge of your life even if it doesn’t always feel that way. If you are experiencing a runaway life then stop, take a deep breath and think about what you really want. You have the power to change your life and to live it on your own terms. You just need to make up your mind on what you really want. Sure there will be some modifications from what you envisioned when you were younger, but maybe that’s a good thing.

Perhaps that turn you took so long ago gave you some grief and is still making your life miserable. Maybe there was a lesson you had to learn through your experience. Life is all about learning lessons. But, this doesn’t mean that you can’t live the life you were meant to live. Take the steps needed–whether it’s going back to school, starting a new career, or ending a relationship, and begin to get yourself back on the path where your dreams are waiting for you.

Put wings on those dreams and fly high in the sky
bumping up against clouds where angels reside and all your dreams will then come alive.

Dreams

Don’t ever give up dreaming about the life you want.

Dream about the soul mate you will meet someday, the children you see yourself raising, the home you see yourself living in, the job you see yourself doing. All the things spinning around in your head that you see yourself experiencing, don’t give up dreaming about them.

Everything you want begins with a dream.

Your dreams are thoughts of how you see yourself living.

Dreams will become your reality if you put energy into them.

Don’t worry, dreams will stand strong against the wind, never wavering, if you just nurture them.

Don’t ever give up dreaming about the life you want, because you see, if you truly believe in them, dreams really do come true.

Sleeping in Lalaloopsy Land

If you think I’ve lost my mind, you are probably right. But in this case, Lalaloopsy is an American line of colorful rag dolls with button eyes that live in a magical world called “Lalaloopsy Land.” There are lots of little dolls that come with their own personal pet, and little girls just love them.

One rainy day, I found myself all snuggled on the couch with my two adorable twin granddaughters. We were watching Adventures in Lalaloopsy Land. The story centered on the character, “Pillow Featherbed,” being asleep somewhere with her pet sheep, and her friends trying to find her. It seems that this Pillow Featherbed likes to sleep and daydream a lot, and I found myself identifying way too much with her. I’m not a morning person, or a night person, and just like Pillow Featherbed, I like to sleep maybe too much. This got me to thinking about people who have trouble sleeping.

We all (even me) have trouble from time to time getting to sleep and staying asleep all night. usually it’s because we have something on our minds. For some reason, we start to think about problems in the stillness of the night instead of sleeping. Now, we all know the medical dangers of not getting enough sleep so I’m not going to throw out facts and figures. But I wonder if we realize during those sleepless nights how much we strip ourselves of quality in our lives.

During sleep, our body gets to regenerate itself and we are able to be at our best after a good night’s sleep. We are happier, healthier, peaceful and even more creative. We rob ourselves of the joy of living when we let worries keep us awake, and we feel awful in the morning.

I have read that if you have something on your mind don’t take it to bed with you. Instead, schedule yourself time in the daylight hours to fix the problem. There are only two things you can do with stuff on your mind. Either fix it, or toss it out, but never, never, take it to bed with you.

Do everything you can to make your bedroom cozy, dark and quiet. I think it was Oprah Winfrey that said she never watches the news before bed. And make sure that you never run out of dreams. My youngest granddaughter, age 4, was having trouble sleeping the other night, and she told her mother that she just couldn’t sleep because she had run out of dreams. Her mother gave her some dream suggestions, but she said that she had already used those.

Maybe we should all take a lesson from Pillow Featherbed and be a sleepyhead who loves to daydream. Here’s hoping you never run out of dreams.

Sending sweet dreams your way
