You Can Live Your Best Life

Are you living the best life you can? Some people get so despondent that they choose to end their life even before it really has a chance to get started. Others are miserable every day and just get by feeling the pain of their life minute by minute. And then there are those who just seem to embrace their life no matter what. They are the ones who are happy to be alive. Have they found some sort of secret to living?

Maybe there is a secret to living a happy, stress free, peaceful life. A secret so great that not even our parents knew about it. Well, it’s not really a secret but instead a really simple rule. This rule is so simple that people pass right over it never giving it much thought. It’s simply living in the “Now” of your life. I know, I’ve talked about this lots of times, but it’s just too simple to remember. Living in the past of could’ve or should’ve, or the scary future of what if’s, will drive you crazy and you won’t be enjoying your life of What Is.

I volunteer in a bereavement program and I’m constantly aware of many souls dying. It does make me think about death and life probably more than the average person. One of the things I keep thinking about is the quality of our lives. How important it is to fully live and not be hampered by anger, bitterness, hatred, fear, jealousy, etc. And I’ve said this before: “Life Is Short.” Actually too short for some. You may not be beautiful or handsome on the outside, but what about the inside? You might not be rich or famous or a brainy, or even very talented, but being happy, stress free, and at peace with your life is everyone’s right. And the only one that can keep that from you, is “You.”

Don’t ever let life get you down, let it pick you up instead. After all, it’s all about the decisions you make for yourself. Your life is precious so handle it with the utmost care, and go out and live every second that you have.

“Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes and dance.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

What Are You Willing to Sacrifice?

What are you really willing to sacrifice for your career? Are you willing to cheat and lie and crush those below as you climb up the ladder? Well, that may be going a bit far, but some have done just that. But would you sacrifice your marriage, or miss your children’s childhood? What about your health? Are you willing to give that away? And those dreams for something even better, remember those? Are you willing to put your whole life on hold for this thing called a career?

When it’s put this way most people would have no trouble saying, NO. But in reality most of us do sacrifice much too much for the career and even for the thing we call the job. Some of us seem to have no problem sacrificing ourselves for the cause. We live by the motto of “work hard and one day you will make it.” The truth is that there is no guarantee you will make it to the top of your career, or even have a career. Life just has a way of sidelining us. And even if we do make it, was it all worth it?

Time is very valuable, and when you think about it, goes by very fast. Time waits for no one. And once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. So think about what you’re willing to sacrifice for your career, or the job that works you to death. Is it worth it? Can you still make a living without losing time with those you love and losing yourself in the process?

What it all comes down to is “Balance.” When you find the balance in your life everything comes together and works for you instead of against you. You can have the career without sacrificing yourself if you find and keep that balance. When you stop sacrificing to achieve that’s when you live your authentic self. And when you think about it, isn’t that what you’re really looking and working for?

Go out and live your best life!

Crazy Life

As crazy as life can get, don’t let it seduce and eat you up alive. Stay away from the stress and mess it seems to throw at you. Breathe and keep going for life can sometimes become an illusion, but you can make it as real as you want it to be.

Carve yourself out some solitude and go away from the madding crowd. For only in silence will you find your true self and be able to put yourself back in balance again.

“Solitude, in the sense of being often alone, is essential to any depth of meditation or of character; and solitude in the presence of natural beauty and grandeur is the cradle of thought and aspirations which are not only good for the individual, but which society could ill do without.” ~ John S. Mill

Learn to dance in the rain and always jump in the puddles because this is your life, dammit, and you will get through it somehow.

Sweet Memories Vs. Past Demons

“All you really need to remember is that NOW is where the past ends and the future begins.” ~ Robert Holden

Enjoy your sweet memories of days gone by–there is nothing wrong with thinking about and reliving the good past memories we all have. Trouble only begins when we live only in the past and forget about living and enjoying the present. Trouble also happens when we let the past invade the now of our lives and deposit little demons that keep us from being truly happy.

I used to tell my mother if she absolutely had to revisit something in her past to make a very short visit and get out quickly! It didn’t always work very well because she would get herself stuck there and the demons would rain down on her. She would try to chase them away with wine, tranquilizers, and the occasional highball, but none proved very effective. I even tried getting her to visualize lighting a match to the past, but she would just say, “I can’t.”

“Nothing ever happened in the past that can prevent you from being present now.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

Treasure and let yourself flow along with those sweet beautiful memories of your life experiences, but never allow the painful demons of your past to interfere with the life you are leading right now.

Always remember, besides being a good person and giving back, you are supposed to be enjoying your life. Submerge yourself in the beauty all around and in life itself, and never ever say,

“I can’t” because you know you always CAN!

Lost

Are you feeling lost? Sometimes that just seems to happen, but don’t despair, you will soon get back on track somewhere. Become very still, silent, letting all thoughts cramming through your brain dissolve into nothingness. Let yourself bond with nature through a window, or find a door and move yourself right out.

In nature is where you’ll find your lost yearning little self. It’s hiding in the trees along the busy highway. It’s sleeping in the flowers, or being carried by that bumblebee. Hey, that squirrel over there scurrying along the leaves just found it! Hurry before he buries it deep beneath the earth.

You are somewhere floating in the streams, or lakes, and can even be found roaring in the ocean waves. Look up, and see your lost self in the sky just hanging out with the clouds so free.

I think that soon you will come to realize that you are never really lost. You are always somewhere simply waiting to connect. Still doubting? Then by all means go outside and you will see that you, my friend, are part of everything!

Is There Really a Problem?

We humans have a terrible habit and need to generate problems. We do encounter real problems on our life’s journey and we have to figure out how to deal with them, but how do you deal with a problem that we or someone created that was never there in the first place?

I bet a lot of the problems we come across aren’t really problems at all; they are simply an obstacle that either we, or another person decided to place in the way. And that’s so sad because it just litters the highway we are traveling on, and takes time away from the real issues in life–not to mention robbing us of joy.

So how can you tell the difference between a real problem and a fake one? A real problem has substance. You can see, feel, smell and taste it, and in doing this, you can deal with it and finally fix it. If it’s one that was created, it has no substance and the only power it has is what you give it.

Do you really have a problem, or are you just unhappy about something and letting your imagination run wild and making one up? Maybe you’re minding your own business and a family member or co-worker decides to design a problem just for you. What do you do? Nothing. Pull yourself away from yourself, or the other person and don’t play the game. Because that’s all it is, “a game.”

The ego is the designer of the game and the name of the game is “Problems.” If you don’t play then there is no game, and if there’s no game, there really isn’t a problem.

Life can be happy and even joyful if we stop making problems for ourselves and others. There is so much good we can do, and so much fun we can have. Don’t waste your time on pretend problems.

The Breeze

The breeze enters where you stand, gently lifting up the curtains like a tiny ghost at hand. Its power is more fragile than bold, and yet, it’s able to slay angry demons with a big bad sword. And almost like a tender hug, your sadness and despair aren’t hanging around anymore.

What you take from it is up to you for the breeze makes no promises for a better life, but leaves many possibilities lingering behind.

Listen closely to the soft whispering as it drifts away, leaving you stronger and calmer to face another day.

Let Go

What would happen if you decided today to simply let go of all the things that keep you captive? You know, things like fear, anger, regret, bitterness, resentment, sadness, pain, hatred, unforgiveness, etc. All the things in your life that are negative and make you miserable and a prisoner. Can you imagine what the feeling would be like if you let go of it all?

It’s hard to let those feelings go. Try as you might you just can’t seem to loosen your tight grip on them. that’s because you’ve lived this way your whole life and it’s just your normal. It might be the way you have always lived, but it’s not the way to happiness and you know it. What’s actually happened here is your ego has taken over your life and we all know it thrives on conflict.

There are two ways out of living like this. One is a gamble that one day you will get sick of it and just surrender. The other is to work at not letting the negative things in your life grab a hold of you. When you start to feel pulled down, visualize the rope or chains that are holding you captive breaking apart and freeing you. Wow! Don’t you feel alive and as light as a feather?

But now what? Can you as a human really enjoy life without problems? That old ego of yours is going to try to stir things up again, and soon you’ll be back where you started from. In order for this not to keep happening, your desire for peace and happiness has to be strong. You have to make a commitment to keep your Spirit stronger than your ego, and you have to stay the course for a better life. It’s something you must work at daily.

There’s a wonderful gift waiting for you when you learn to let go. Open your gift and see what the Universe has given. There’s joy and peace delicately wrapped for you to share. What’s missing is all those burdens you’ve been carrying around. Why, you can actually breath deeper now, and can see what really matters in your life.

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”
~ Lao Tzu

Are You Happy Being Miserable?

Some people seem to be, but are you? Do you dump on others–especially your parents for all your bad decisions? Do you keep yourself living a life of despair because it’s what you know and just easier? Stop being a drama queen or king, and certainly stop with the me, me, me, attitude. No one is really happy being miserable and that’s why it’s time to change how you’re living your life.

Stand up and take responsibility for all the awful choices you have made. We all make them, but the person that wants to live in harmony accepts them and moves on. Why are you still blaming your parents for what you think is the truth? Do you really believe that they favored your sibling over you? Unless you were abused, lived with alcoholics or drug users, get over it and move on–you are an adult now, aren’t you? The person who really wants to find the joy in life lives in the present. You are really a lost puppy if you are still living in the past.

Start looking at what you can do to make the changes needed in your life to be a balanced and happy person. You owe it to yourself not to live a life of misery. Try gratitude on for size, it’s guaranteed to grow your soul. And don’t forget loving something besides yourself.

“The bell of mindfulness tolls in each moment, inviting us to come to our senses, reminding us that we can wake up to our lives, now, while we have them to live.” ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn

Don’t let the rip tides pull you under. Learn to flow with the ocean currents of life.

Appreciation

“Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.” ~ Christiane Northrup

Do you appreciate the fact that you’re alive? Sometimes days just melt into one another and time flies by. Before you know it, another year in your life has slipped by without you even noticing. It seems like we’re all on a fast track and there’s no time just to kick back and smell the roses–heck, you’re probably too busy watering them and haven’t taken the time to notice their individual beauty.

It’s important to unplug and get outside that busy head of yours and learn to slow down. It’s amazing when you slow down how everything around you appears new and so alive. You start to see people in a different light and enjoy their company. You find yourself really listening to what they have to say. You stop judging and take up accepting instead.

When you are appreciative for everything in your life you are fully awake and not sleep walking anymore. All your senses come alive–even food tastes better. You are now a patient, stress free, and kind human.

Practice appreciation and see how your life will change.

By the way, I appreciate all of you!

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” ~ Ashley Smith
