“A difficult time can be more readily endured if we retain the conviction that our existence holds a purpose—a cause to pursue, a person to love, a goal to achieve.”
~ John Maxwell
When times get tough for us it helps to get through the mess if we have glue that binds us and keeps us from falling apart. It doesn’t matter what kind of glue we use as long as it has holding power. Some types of glue are: religion/spirituality, family, partner/spouse, friends, volunteering, vocation, nature, and of course, pets. Just about anything that gives you something to hold onto and to live for.
You’re in danger when you feel all alone. That’s when you question why you are even here and that no one would miss you if you suddenly died. Yes, life certainly is not always a bed of roses, but with your glue you’ll be secured to Mother Earth and your life will always have meaning.
“Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being.” – Albert Schweitzer
And when we finally connect within and have that relationship with ourselves, we finally are a part of our hearts space that no super glue could match 😀
But as you say, it is those many other memorable relationships that bind us to guide us ever inward to that place 😀
Great post Michele ❤

Hi Michele. Good essay.
And I have to say that Schweitzer’s words are very perceptive and very true. It often doesn’t take much for somebody’s day to become brighter.

Thank you Neil. Yes, that connection to another human being is strong and needed. But a connection to nature and animals sure is special too.

This isolationist feeling overwhelms me from time to time and I have to remember to take a step back and connect with my besties, Michele. 😍 Great reminder. 🥰

I hear you Pam. I’m kind of a loner and more comfortable hanging out with nature and pets, so I too have to make myself connect with people.

Thank you Michelle. I was thinking one day of how glue keeps everything together and how we as humans so desperately need the same in our lives.

That glue can be so vital. It can be hard to remember what you’re here for, to remember the reasons to hold on. Keep hold of your glue, too, lovely xxxx

So right Caz. It’s so easy for us to get lost and wonder why we’re here. It’s good to have reasons and something to hold onto. I’ll hold tight to my glue and you do the same. Hugs.

I don’t think it’s ever really easy, Eliza, and like I said to Caz, what’s easy is getting lost. But I think the trick is to find something to hold onto and that keeps you together and makes life much better.

Hope and belief that you’ll find that thing. I think maybe one day it’d be god (or infinity/source/energy whatever you want to call it), but that’s not today.

So agree with you, Michele. Finding a glue is a necessary step. Then we can start reinforcing the glue and see how the world is becoming a more welcoming place 🙂
