“Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.” ~ Mark Twain
Make this the year that you decide to forgive. But in doing so, don’t forget to forgive yourself. I think it’s actually easier to forgive others than ourselves, but it’s just as important.
I’ve written about forgiveness probably many times and that’s because I believe it’s a very important step for a happy and balanced life. And I think it’s a great way to begin each year.
Think about this beautiful quote by Mark Twain and envision being a violet and giving out to the universe the fragrance of forgiveness. You will be so much more at peace with yourself if you do.
It is a very sweet fragrance Michele, one that will touch the heart of many, and as you said, especially our own ❤ 😀

Wow, certainly puts it all in perspective, Michele, but I think it’s hard to figure the heel that keeps on crushing. Maybe that’s the point, right? xo

Don’t you just love that quote by Mark Twain? It puts the whole forgiving thing into perspective for me. But I have to say that I forgave myself and others a long time ago. And I have removed myself from those that want to keep on crushing. xo

It’s tough and changes from day to day for me, Michele. Sometimes I can let the biggest things go and the littlest things will completely derail me.😩

I completely understand that. It’s a process for sure. xo

Hi, Eliza 🙂 I agree with you. What works for me is reminding myself that I always do my best at the time, but sometimes my best is my worst. We have to cut ourselves some slack and move on. It’s all any of us can do. Hugs right back at you!

Yes, as the saying goes..forgiveness is more for yourself than others. I think when we can manage forgiveness it is freeing. 😉 Hugs

What a perfect quote! Fragrance is natural, effortless. So should be forgiveness.

Such a lovely post, Michele. Forgiveness can be hard, but I do think that holding resentment, hurt, pain, and hate is harder still.. all of that can become such a heavy burden and make you bitter. It’s far healthier to open your heart, to forgive and find a way to move forward with compassion. xx

I love this post forgiveness is a powerful tool. I like to tell my clients “For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind. Now, just imagine if you spent those sixty seconds providing self love and/or kindness..”

So glad you enjoyed this post. I truly believe that forgiveness is at the top of the things we should do in our lives. I think anger hurts our health and can really shorten our lives. I love your comments. Thank you 🙂
