You can’t change your past, but you sure can change your present for the better. Life is short and the future is not promised to anyone. Every positive present moment we possess makes whatever future we have that much better.

I absolutely love that quote!
I heard another one once that goes along the lines of: If you’re depressed, you’re living in the past, if you’re anxious you’re living in the future, the only moment you have is the present.
Happy weekend Michele

I liked all of that quote Eliza, but especially the part of not punishing your present. I’ve done that in the past and it’s awful. I almost used the other quote you mentioned. Have a great weekend too!

Happened to find this on a day when I needed to read this kind of reminder! It is true but difficult – the mind just seems to oscillate between past and future and the present can feel like it is only forged by this movement. Thanks for posting these words, I’ll be following you 🙂

Hi, Avriii, nice to meet you. I’m so glad you found my post and that it helped. That’s what I always hope for, so thank you for letting me know. I agree with you that the mind likes to hop all over the place from past to future to back to present. I struggle with this at times. I like your blog and have started following you 🙂

What a great reminder that we can choose how we respond to any situation where we find ourselves. Yes, you may not be able to control your circumstances, but everyone has full control over how they respond to them!

Thank you Richard. I like the quote by Wayne Dyer that I think goes like this: “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.”
