Surrender to the “is” of your life and stop battling with the ego that holds you a prisoner. Surrendering is not giving up and giving in, or not handling the challenges that come into your life. It has nothing to do with not caring or being an active participate in life. Instead, it’s going with the flow of your life which will give you the peace and happiness you are seeking.
“If you find your life situation unsatisfactory or even intolerable, it is only by surrendering first that you can break the unconscious resistance pattern that perpetuates that situation.” ~ Eckhart Tolle
When you hold on to your pain you can’t move forward. You are constantly living in the past and dragging your pain along with you into the present. Every day is filled with new life experiences–some good and some bad. If you keep holding on to the hurts of yesterday and merge them with the hurts of the present, then you end up stuck in an internal battle that you can never win.
When a problem comes into your life, either fix it or toss it. Worry and letting yourself become depressed will only open the door for your ego to lead you down the dark tunnel of misery. Surrender to the is of your life–the problem, and see if you can take a positive action to correct it. If you can’t, then let it go and stop fretting over it.
There is someone who is mean to you and you can’t understand why. Stop driving yourself crazy trying to figure out the why. If it’s that important to you, talk to them. If it can’t be fixed, then let it go and move on and never give it another thought.
You’re out of work and all the worrying in the world will not change that fact. Surrender to the is and do what you need to do to find employment. You might not find the job you think you want, but surrender anyway; the right job for you will appear if you just flow with your life.
Whatever problem you are dealing with today will come to an end, and you’ll find that you didn’t need to choose suffering to get there. All you ever needed to do was to accept the is, let go, and allow life to flow.
Love this post! It really speaks to me right now. Learning to surrender to the flow of life. ❤

I’m glad you liked it 🙂 Surrendering to the flow of my life is very important to me. I spent too many years going against the flow and I was very unhappy.

ITS A SPIRITUAL LIFE IN THE PRESENT, SPIRITUAL PROGRESS TAKES PLACE IN A NOW (MOMENT+ACCEPTANCE). What happened is gone from reality — dealing with the outcomes is what we are not doing when holding out against inability to fix the past. It isn’t any longer happening. In the present is where we must be. As you noted: “Surrender to the is of your life–the problem, and see if you can take a positive action to correct it. If you can’t, then let it go and stop fretting over it.”
This is excellent advice. If it seems like double-talk or incomplete for anyone, its not — it will be beneficial then to explore what this means.

Hi, Eric 🙂 I found that once I started to accept the “is” of what was happening in my life, and then just surrendered, I became a much happier person and things in my life fell into place. I think a lot of us grow up not knowing how to do this so it does take some practice.
